Bosch Motorsport MS 6

Quick answer: The Bosch Motorsport MS 6 is a professional motorsport engine ECU for gasoline engines of up to 12 cylinders. The current range is the MS 6 EVO family — four models from $5,983 including GST that share identical hardware, with capability unlocked by software licences as your programme grows. In Australia it is supplied, installed and calibrated by 909 Motorsport, an Authorized Bosch Motorsport Dealer in Newcastle NSW.

The MS 6 is Bosch Motorsport's customer engine management platform — the same engineering line as the ECUs Bosch supplies to professional race programmes, packaged for customer teams. 909 Motorsport is an Authorized Bosch Motorsport Dealer based in Newcastle NSW: we supply the full MS 6 EVO range and its software licences, and we calibrate what we sell on our in-house AWD dyno.

One hardware platform, four models

Every MS 6 EVO is the same physical ECU: dual-core 667 MHz CPU with FPGA, 196 pins across two Bosch connectors, twelve ignition outputs, 2× Ethernet, 3× CAN, 1× LIN, 8× SENT and RS232, in a 1,086 gram IP54 aluminium housing running from 6–18 V. Port injection for up to 12 cylinders at up to 12,500 rpm is common to all four. What changes between models is injection capability and how much function content is included versus unlocked later:

  • MS 6.1 EVO — port injection, 21 analog inputs. The entry point: electronic throttle, VVT, turbo, traction and launch control unlock via function packages. $5,983 inc GST.
  • MS 6.2 EVO — port injection with the Engine Function I–II and Measurement content built in: 38 analog inputs, dual electronic throttle with integrated safety strategy, VVT, turbo, traction and launch control as standard. $11,097 inc GST.
  • MS 6.3 EVO — adds high-pressure direct injection (4 cylinders to 12,500 rpm, 6 to 9,500, 8 to 8,500) alongside full port capability. $13,190 inc GST.
  • MS 6.4 EVO — the top of the range: direct + port injection with the Measurement and High Pressure Injection package content included as standard. $18,602 inc GST.
  • MS 6.4P EVO — the project-software variant of the MS 6.4: identical hardware running Bosch's torque-structure software line, where launch, pit-speed, rpm limiting and traction all live inside one torque chain. $24,882 inc GST.

Grow by licence, not by hardware swap

The MS 6 EVO's defining feature is that capability is sold as software. Start on an MS 6.1 EVO and add what the programme needs, when it needs it — each package installs as a licence on the ECU you already own:

  • Engine Function Packages I & II — electronic throttle, VVT and turbo control; then traction and launch control.
  • Measurement Package — expands 21 analog inputs to 38.
  • High Pressure Injection Package — second high-pressure pump control on direct-injection models.
  • Gear Control Packages I & II — gear-cut and gearshift support.
  • Logger Packages — from the standard 4 GB / 100 channels at 20 Hz up to 1,500 channels at 1 kHz of onboard logging.

We stock the full range of MS 6 software packages and licences alongside the ECUs, plus the genuine 91-pin and 105-pin mating connectors and the MSA Box II programming interface.

Built to live in a Bosch electronics system

Native Ethernet with time synchronisation links the MS 6 to the rest of the Bosch Motorsport range — DDU 10 and DDU 11 dash-loggers, PBX power distribution and Motorsport ABS — into one system with shared data. That integration is our daily work: CAN and Ethernet configuration of ECU, dash, power distribution and ABS, commissioned together in our Newcastle workshop.

Supplied and calibrated by 909

An MS 6 is only as good as its calibration. We run an in-house AWD Mainline dyno, and we calibrate the ECUs we supply — base setup, engine protection strategies and the function content the licences unlock. If you're weighing up which model fits your engine and budget, talk to us before you order: starting one model lower and adding licences later is often the better path, and we'll tell you when it isn't.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the MS 6 EVO models?

Hardware is identical across the range. The MS 6.1 and 6.2 EVO are port-injection only; the 6.3 and 6.4 EVO add high-pressure direct injection. Within each pair, the higher model includes the function and measurement content the lower model unlocks by licence. The MS 6.4P EVO runs Bosch's torque-structure software line instead of the conventional MS 6 EVO software.

Can I add capability later without changing the ECU?

Yes — that's the platform's design. Function, measurement, injection, gear-control and logging packages install as software licences on the ECU you already own. No hardware swap.

How many cylinders and what rpm will it support?

Port injection: up to 12 cylinders at up to 12,500 rpm on all models. Direct injection (MS 6.3/6.4/6.4P EVO): 4 cylinders to 12,500 rpm, 6 to 9,500 rpm or 8 to 8,500 rpm.

What do I need to program an MS 6?

The MSA Box II interface connects the ECU to your laptop for configuration, calibration and data download. We supply it, and we commission every system we install.

Can 909 tune it?

Yes — supply, installation, CAN/Ethernet integration and calibration are all in-house, including AWD dyno time on our Mainline dyno in Newcastle.
